Is being silent from the truth considered “fleeing from fitnaah’

Imaam Yahyah Ibn Ali Al-Hajooree was asked
Is being silent from the truth considered ‘fleeing? from fitnaah’

The shaykh responded:
rather it’s the source of fitnah, its not fleeing from fitnah rather silence from the truth is that which plunges the people into fitnah. Patience is a must whilst clarifying to the people.
{وَإِذْ أَخَذَ اللَّهُ مِيثَاقَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلا تَكْتُمُونَهُ}
(And remember when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the scripture to make it known and clear to mankind and not to hide it.Aal’Imraan:187)
{إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالْهُدَى}
(Verily those who conceal the clear proofs, evidences and guidance Al-Baqarah:159)
So the speech from the people of knowledge which is supported whith proofs is guidance. How many indviduals from the people are kept in heedlessness, so you pave their way to having insight and to the path of guidance. It is not permissable to conceal the truth from the people.
Do you think eveyone knows that which the Alim knows? Never by Allah! This is something that nations are ingnorant of, from the aspects of knowledge and its realities, so since the situation is like that, it’s a must that the comandment of Allah is implemented with regards to that.
And Allah did not order us with that except due to its importance
{إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنزلْنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالْهُدَى مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا بَيَّنَّاهُ لِلنَّاسِ فِي الْكِتَابِ أُولَئِكَ يَلْعَنُهُمُ اللَّهُ}
(Verily those who conceal the clear proofs, evidences and guidance which we have sent down, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, thay are those cursed by Allah
They are cursed by Allah since they did not fulil his comandment nor his legislation
{وَيَلْعَنُهُمُ اللاعِنُونَ}
(And cursed by the cursers
and cursed by the cursers since they decieved them and concealed from them the evidences and guidance.
{ إِلا الَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَأَصْلَحُوا وَبَيَّنُوا فَأُولَئِكَ أَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَنَا التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيم}
Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). These I will accept their repentance. And I am the One Who accepts repentance, The Most Merciful. (Al-Baqarah:159)
So that’s how it is, its obligatory to be patient upon the truth, may it be pleasing to the one who it pleases and angers he who it angers like that without a need for flattery (smooth talk). By Allah we see ourselves flaterising in certain situations but we ask Allah to pardon us.
The scholars of جرح وتعديل (critisicm & praise ) in our time are few, do you think that جرح وتعديل is just that we say so and so is mistaken and so and so is correct? Or so and so is ضعيف (weak in narations) and so & so is ثقة (trustworthy in narations) ? rather الجرح وتعديل is in groups & sect’s and الجرح وتعديلis in great trials and tribulations and الجرح وتعديل is for those who are the nulifiers and subduers (of falsehood) and for those who are deserving of it, surounding the issues pertaining to praising the people of truth and clarifying the truth from the falsehood and from other then that. And Allah’s aid is saught .
