In Defense of the Prophet (May the Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)

In Defense of the Prophet (May the Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)

Shaykh Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa`dee

Reference: Tayseer Al-Kareem Al-Rahman fee Tafseer Kalaam Al Mannaan (Tafseer Al-Sa’adi) [15: 95-99]

Category: Tafseer

Allah Subhaanahu Wata’ala said the meaning of which is:

{Truly! We have sufficed you against the scoffers. Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god), they will come to know. Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say. So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him). And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death).} [15: 95-99]

(In the previous verse) Allah orders his messenger not to pay any attention to them ( the disbelievers) or to anyone else and to remain steadfast upon the command of Allah as well as propagating this to everyone and not letting any interferer interfere and impede (his execution of) the command of Allah. (Allah also orders him) not to let the statements of the doubters impede him. {and turn away from Al-Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, and disbelievers,} i.e. Do not pay any attention to them and leave their blasphemy and insults while devoting yourself to your affairs. {Truly! We have sufficed you against the mockers.}

Those who mock and ridicule you and (also mock) that which you have come with (Islam), and this is a promise from Allah to His messenger that those who mock him will never harm him (and his message) in any way. It is also a promise (from Allah to His messenger) that Allah will suffice him against those who mock him with whatever he wishes from the different types of punishments, and Indeed Allah has done just that, for there has never been a person who manifested and publicized the mockery of the messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and that which he had come with except that Allah destroyed such a person and killed him in the worst possible manner.

Then Allah mentioned their (evil) characteristic, and that is; just as they wrong and trouble you (with their statements of mockery), they are also wronging Allah by associating another ilah (false god) with him (in worship), although He is their Lord, Creator and Manager of their affairs. {they will come to know.} The consequence of their actions when they arrive at the resurrection (on the day of resurrection).

{Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say.} To you from their belying and mockery, and we are most capable of their eradication through punishment and (we are also capable of) hastening that which they deserve (from the punishment). However, Allah grants a respite (to the mockers lest they repent) but does not ignore or overlook (their mockery of the prophet if they fail to repent.)

So, you O Muhammad {Glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Him).} i.e. Increase in the remembrance of Allah, and in his glorification, praise and (increase) in prayer, for indeed all of these (types of worship) will widen and relieve your breast (from their mockery) and will also aid you in your affairs.

{And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty.} i.e. death – so continue at all times to come closer to Allah with different types of worship, and he (the prophet) may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him obeyed the commandments of his Lord and continued to persevere in worship until certainty came to him from his Lord, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

A Comparison between Those Obsessed with Takfīr & Bombings and Those Who Call for Peace & Well-Being

A Comparison between Those Obsessed with Takfīr & Bombings and Those Who Call for Peace &
Well-Being
Original Title

Today, many non-Muslims have entered the Arabian Peninsula for a specific set time
(jobs, etc.). And many people from this country have also begun telling them about Islam,
spreading offices throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called “Taw’iyyah al-Jāliyāt” or
“Community Enlightenment” offices. This has been going on for a long time now, and
because of it, many people have accepted Islam. According to a comprehensive report
by the “Community Enlightenment” office in Buraidah, Qaseem (a city near Riyadh) for
example, as many as fifteen thousand people entered Islam between 1407 (C.E. 1986)
and the beginning of 1424 (C.E. 2003). And the completion of such people’s guidance,
after Allāh guided them to Islam, is that they meet sincere and righteous callers to peace
and well-being, those who teach them the understanding of the religion according to the
righteous predecessors, those far removed from evil innovations and issues foreign to
Islam.
However, beginning in the year 1424 (C.E. 2003), some young people in this country
(Saudi Arabia) were afflicted with the trials of renouncing obedience to the leaders and
government and the audacity to kill non-Muslims who’ve entered our country and were
promised safety and security. They claim they are “ridding the Arabian Peninsula of the
disbelievers.” By doing that, they’ve brought evil upon themselves, their religion and its
people, and their nation. In the “al-Qabas al-Muwaytiyyah” newspaper (no. 11137) dated
the 23
rd
of Rabī’ al-Ākhir, 1425 (C.E. 2004), an article by Dr. Ḥamad Ibn Ibrāhīm al-
‘Uthmān was published by the title: “The Ideology of Bombing in the Spotlight”. Within this
article were many statements from such misguided youth (the terrorists) that have been
published on a well-known internet site. The fifth reported statement says:
“Everyone must know that if they want to make us leave our ideology, the very
ideology for which we were created, with which we were commanded, because
of which we’ve spilled our own blood – if they want us to leave this, then let them
dig up Muhammad ( وسلم عليه اه صلى ) from his grave and let him say to us, ‘Do not
expel the disbelievers from the Arabian Peninsula!’ Dig him up to tell us, ‘Do not
make Jihād against the disbelievers from the Arabian Peninsula!’ Dig him up to
tell us, ‘You are all sinners, extremists, terrorists! You should instead renounce
this and repent from it.’ Only then will we listen and obey, and only to him ( اه صلى
“!( عليه وسلم
Anyone who reflects on these statements full of utmost wickedness, the extreme, harshheartedness of these people becomes apparent as does their blunt, discourteous
manners, and their petrified, intolerant ideology. I do not even think many of the
misguided youth bent on destruction within this country would approve of such speech
that calls to nothing but an evil end. These people should repent and return to guidance
and pay no attention to the likes of such vile statements that only show the filth, evil,
meanness and shamelessness of whoever said it.
The following is a summarized comparison between the actions of these misguided youth
and the actions of sincere callers to peace and righteousness:
1. The misguided youth accept and approve of disbelief from a nonbeliever and
therefore rush him to the Fire (by killing him). They bring him out of darkness into
darkness, from torture to torture. As for the sincere callers to well-being, they work to
bring a nonbeliever out of darkness and into light, so that he may triumph, thereby
gaining happiness and contentment in this life and the next.

2. The misguided youth, by killing a nonbeliever (residing in this land) send him back to
his family in a coffin so that they may be filled with hatred and resentment towards
Islam and Muslims, so they may attribute to Islam what it is actually free and innocent
of – all because of these misguided people. As for the sincere callers to
righteousness, by inviting others to Islam, a person may return to his family as a
Muslim. He becomes a member of Islam, inviting his own family and others to it.
3. The misguided youth subject themselves to the punishment reported in the statement
:( صلى اه عليه وسلم ) of the Prophet
“Whoever kills a Muā’hid (a non-Muslim promised safety) will not even smell the
fragrance of paradise even though its scent can be smelled from forty years
away.”
2
As for the sincere callers, by their invitation (to Islam), they hope for rewards
promised in the statement of the Prophet
“Whoever calls to guidance, there is for him a reward for anyone who follows
him without diminishing their own rewards at all.”
3
4. The misguided ones, their family and relatives live in grief, distress, worry, and
sadness; they regret the condition of their wicked children. The sincere callers, their
family and relatives live in happiness, delight, and approval with the condition of their
noble children.
5. The misguided ones, by their disgraceful actions, prevent people from entering Islam,
damaging the reputation of the pure monotheistic religion. The sincere callers, by

their noble actions and their enthusiasm for Islam, work to bring nonbelievers out of
darkness and into light.
6. The misguided people were not even able to perform Jihād against their own (evil)
inclinations. And they ruined themselves and others in that they’ve fallen into a form
of corruption they call “Jihād”. As for the sincere callers, they perform Jihād against
their own inclinations and perform a form of Jihād (struggle) with others by inviting
them to Islam.
7. The misguided ones, by their horrible actions, become keys opening the doors to evil,
locking the doors to all good. The sincere callers, by their noble actions, become
keys opening the doors to all good, locking the doors to evil. In “Sunan Ibn Mājah”,
:said ( صلى اه عليه وسلم ) said that Allāh’s messenger ( رضي اه عنه ) Anas
“Certainly, among people are those who are keys to (the doors of) good, locking
(the doors of) evil. And certainly, among people are those who are keys to (the
doors of) evil, locking (the doors of) good. So, Ṭūbá (a rewarding tree in
paradise) is for whomever Allāh places the keys to good upon his hands, and
woe (beware or a pit in Hell) to those Allāh places the keys to evil upon his
hands.”4

8. The misguided youth are a threatened people by Allāh’s statement:
 إِنَ اللّهَ اَ يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ 
Certainly, Allāh does not amend the work of corruptors.
[Sūrah Yūnus, 10:81]

And the sincere callers are a promised people by Allāh’s statement:
 إِنَا اَ نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُصْلِحِنيَ 
Certainly, We will not allow to be lost the reward of the good-doers.
[Sūrah Al-‘Arāf, 7:170]
9. The misguided ones can expect a portion of what’s come in the prophet’s
“Whoever rebels against my nation, killing both the righteous and wicked
(indiscriminately), not even sparing the devout believers, and not fulfilling the
obligation towards those given a pledge (of security) – then he is not from me
and I am not from him.”
5
And the sincere callers can expect a portion of what’s come in the prophet’s ( اه صلى
“There are three traits a Muslim’s heart never resents: sincerity in doing actions
for Allāh, offering sincere advise to those in authority, and sticking to the
mainstream community (of Muslims) because certainly their supplication
encompasses all around them.”6

Etiquette of eating and drinking

Etiquette of eating and drinking

The first question of Fatwa no. 6008

Q 1: My neighbor gave my young daughter something to drink with her left hand. When I informed her that it is Satan who drinks with his left hand and supported my saying by the authentic Hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Hadith of the girl and the Bedouin, she argued that the Hadith address the person who drinks, not the person who gives someone something to drink. Please answer me because my neighbor is not convinced.

A: It was authentically reported on the authority of Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that The Prophet (peace be upon him) has commanded Muslims to eat and drink with the right hand giving reasons for that by the fact that Satan eats and drinks with his left hand. In another Hadith reported on the authority of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him)

(Part No. 22; Page No. 132)

who said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade eating with the left hand, saying: “Do not eat with yourleft hand, for Satan eats with his left hand.” These Hadith indicate that it is forbidden to eat or drink with theleft hand in order not to imitate our enemy, Satan.

In the Hadith of the girl and the Bedouin whom Satan brought to eat without mentioning the Name of Allah, the Prophet (peace be upon him) held their hands so that Satan would not have food through their eating. Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) justified his action, saying: “Satan considers that food lawful for himself on which the Name of Allah is not mentioned. He (Satan) brought this girl to make the food lawful through her but I caught her hand. Then, he brought the Bedouin to make food lawful through him but I caught his hand too. By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, now Satan’s hand is in my grasp along with her hand.” The wording of another narration reads: …along with their hands. (Related by Muslim in his Sahih (authentic) Book of Hadith)

(Part No. 22; Page No. 133)

May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.

The third question of Fatwa no. 20961

What is the ruling on taking and giving things with the left hand; is it Haram (prohibited) or Makruh (disliked)?

A: According to the authentic reports, giving and taking things with the left hand is prohibited. It is reported on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, Let one of you eat with his right hand, drink with his right hand, take with his right hand, and give with his righthand, for Satan eats with his left hand, drinks with his left hand, gives with his left hand, and takes with hisleft hand. The third question of Fatwa no. 6724

Q 3: Is it permissible to hold bread with the left hand or not? I see 90% of the people take bread in their left hand to cut it or hold it, as bread is soft and they cannot eat it with the right hand without using the left. I hope that you will advise me on this.

A: It is permissible to hold bread with the left hand, but taking bread from and giving it to others should be done with the right hand, according to Islamic etiquette. It is not permissible to eat bread using the left hand, as long as it is possible to use the right.

Fanaticism towards the Scholars

Fanaticism towards the Scholars

Emotions contaminated with Desires

Part 1

They Only accept the praise or criticism from their Shaykh ,or from

The People their Shaykh has praised.

The only person criticized in their view is the one their scholar has criticized. If the criticism is general and rejected , due to a detailed praise from a number of scholars, you’ll find they won’t pay any attention to what those ulema have said. i.e the detailed praised.

They say: “ Our shaykh is more knowledgeable about the condition of such and such than those scholars. The detailed criticism takes precedence over the general praise.” This is what those people negligent or ignorant  say! This is a correct principle. The detailed criticism takes precedence over the general praise.

Furthermore, if you investigate the situation you’d find that this criticism is based on false reports and hidden hatred or envy. This criticism isn’t supported on a knowledge based research.

Ibn Abdul Bar (May Allah have mercy on him) said: “ A group of scholars in Fiqh and Hadeeth, who have insight in understanding and research have said: “ We don’t accept (the Jarh) from Ibn Ma’een or other people about a person who is well known for knowledge, trustworthiness, and sound understanding. The criticism in this case is rejected until the reason he’s criticizing the Muslim, is in accordance with the actions that validate a trustworthy person to be criticized. Reason being, this person is marked as being reliable. Therefore it’s incorrect to think about him being  otherwise.” [ Tamheed Darul Farquq 7/171]

Shaykh Khalid ibn Muhammad Uthman said: “If this type of criticism isn’t accepted from someone like Ibn Ma’een, except with a valid reason, then what about someone less than him in our era?!”

The praise of that person  from the senior scholars is based on their experience with him, their relationship with him, and their knowledge about his minhaj. Moreover their detailed praise concerning him is based on their awareness of his actions,  which prove his honesty from lies and attest to his sound minhaj.

Nonetheless, despite all this you find those fanatics rejecting the praise from the major scholars for that individual. They hold only the words of their shaykh as being sufficient. They spread their scholar’s criticism (against the person) everywhere heedlessly and ignorantly. Consequently, they make their scholar  the leader of their party. He has the right to say who gets membership and who doesn’t. He has the right to say who is on it and who’s off it without proof. And no doubt this is ghuloo.

Part 2

“They refuse to accept the truth if it comes from other than their Shaykh”

Al-Haythami said: “ This type of action happens due to arrogance, or arguing in issues of Islam coupled with desires and fanaticism. These obsessions prevent him from accepting anything that comes from someone other than his shaykh. He refuses to acknowledge anything, although the path is crystal clear. On the contrary his arrogance summons him to go to the greatest lengths to display his falsehood and baseless arguments. He fits right line with Allah’s words, “

“And those who disbelieve say: “Listen not to this Qur’an, and make noise in the midst of its (recitation) that you may overcome.”[ Fussilat 26]

“And when it is said to him, “Fear Allah”, he is led by arrogance to (more) crime. So enough for him is Hell, and worst indeed is that place to rest![ Al-Baqarah 206]

Ibn Masud (Radi Allahu Anhu) said: “ The sin suffices the man when it’s said to him ,” Fear Allah” , and he replies ,”Worry about yourself.”

Abdul Azeez Al-Bukhari said: “ The fanatic has a damaged aqeedah which prevents him from recognizing the truth when its manifest with evidence.”

Shaykh Khalid al-Misree said: “ The partnership and fanaticism block his spoiled Aqeedah from accepting the truth, even though the proof is clear. When the truth opposes what he believes his hizbeeyah beckons him to deny the truth and accept his falsehood. And certainly , this is arrogance as the Prophet(sallahu alayhi wa salim) defined it.

“الْكِبْرَ مَنْ بَطَرَ الْحَقَّ وَغَمَطَ النَّاسَ”

“ Arrogance is to deny the truth and to belittle people”

[Abu Dawud 4094 Al-Albani graded this hadeeth as being Saheeh]
